After leaving Saint Gabes yesterday, I repeatedly said, “ I wish we could go back to Friday and do it all over again.” Not only was it a chance to get away, it was a relaxing, fun filled trip I will always remember and (almost pathetically) will miss so much. I seemed to learn A LOT about myself, and that there are issues I need to acknowledge which I have ignored. This retreat brought many of the girls together as well. Many many many thanks to Father Leo for his words, for Father Chris’s jokes that put a smile on every girls face, Nick’s small group talk and personal story and for Katie’s ball pass reflection of retreat on Sunday before our departure. This was the second retreat I have taken with St. Agnes, and I think I got the most out of this one. I don’t want to sound fake and like everyone else who posts on your guest book, but I feel really good inside and words can’t seem to formulate a sentence that explains it. It was my second time being at the retreat house and it was amazing. It's like another world there and everyone just comes together and it helped me to realize so many things about myself and about life. Fr. Chris, Fr. For those who feel it would be about God 24/7 you have to give it a second look before judging. It was a time for understanding. We listened to songs that you would never think had anything to do with your daily life. You would just sing them not really understanding its meaning. But the few times we were played a song I listened to it differently and got a better view of what it means on my part. If your given the opprotunity to visit Shelter Island as a group or solo I would recommand this experiance. |

This Retreat house means a lot to me. I had made some great friends when I was on retreats at St.Gabes. The best two times at St.Gabes was Summer of 1999 and Summer of 2000 when I went with my group and St.Kilian's group. My friend John Darcy passed away Summer of 1999 and his parents donated money to have a room in memory of him at the retreat center so when I go to St.Gabes I enjoy sitting in the room thats in memory of John. It helps me bring back the good times I had with my Youth Friends. I won't forget the memories that St.Gabes gave to me with my Youth Group. I loved the Retreat at Saint Gabes....I cant thank the staff at saint gabes and AYM enough for the moving weekend it was. Father Chris and Father Leo were amazing (35 cent for life!!!). Thank you guys so much and you are forever in my prayers, I can't wait for next year!!! |
